4-8: Forensic Science & Secret Agent Science
Secret Agent Science
All spies partner with a gadget person and use science to save the world! In these informative and entertaining lessons, students will learn scientific techniques, from chemistry to computer science, to become a secret agent spy. Students will learn how to send secret messages using chemistry, how to code a message so only they can read it, and use those skills to solve a difficult treasure hunt.
Individual Classes (Invisible ink, learning chemistry so you can create your own invisible ink and write hidden messages), (Coded Messages, using principles of computer science to encode your messages so others can’t understand without the key), (Build a Battery, learning some basic physics so you can learn how to build what you need with basic at home materials.)
Forensic Science
It’s like a crime show, but without the crime. Students will become forensic scientists by learning how science is used to solve fictional crimes. Students will learn scientific principles used by forensic scientists. They will discover how to examine a ‘crime’ scene and learn to identify useful information using various scientific processes, including fingerprinting and chemical analysis.
Individual Classes (Fingerprinting, learn the backbone of forensic science how to collect fingerprints from a crime scene to solve a special crime), (Chemical Analysis learn how to use chemistry to identify materials you might find at a crime scene), (Spot a Forgery learn how to analyze handwriting ink or paint to be able to spot a forgery and prevent a crime before it starts)
