The STEAM Discovery Center is open every Friday from 1pm-4pm, from September 24th to October 15th (4 weeks).

More dates and locations will open soon. STEAM Discovery Center is a place for students to learn from real scientists and explore on their own to discover their passions.

Every Day Students will be led by a real scientist through a 1 hour course, and have 2 Hours of Open makers space to take a deeper dive into whatever interests them most.

Grades K-3 (Room 120)

1:00 – 2:00pm: Open Makers Space

2:00 – 3:00pm: Teacher Led Course [Robotics: Animal Style]

3:00 – 4:00pm: Open Makers Space

Robots in Space is a course that teaches students to both build and code robots, Themed around Space exploration. Space exploration in the last frontier. Students will be building and coding robots to solve challenges associated with Space travel. the Open Makers Space students will be encouraged to try new things and participate in what they want to help discover their passions. Every day there will be new topics to try out like Magnetism, Engineering, building catapults or things that fly, like building airplanes and rockets. Students will have access to many supplies that allow each student to practice their own creativity.

Grades 4-8 (Room 140)

1:00 – 2:00pm: Teacher Led Course [Forensic Science]

2:00 – 4:00pm: Open Makers Space

 

Secret Agent Science course allows students to use science in a fun environment. Students learn new skills in Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science while solving fun challenges as a secret agent spy. In the Open Makers Space students are encouraged to try new things and participate in what they want to help discover their passions. Every Day there will be new topics like robotics, allowing students to build and code robots, building fun and creative launchers like catapults air cannons and more. Students will have access to many supplies that allow each student to explore their own creativity.

This in-class program utilizes three forms of engagement education: Self Engagement, Social Engagement, and Custodial Engagement. Taught by scientists this provides an environment to Discover this magical world that’s all around us, and master the process of science. An education in STEM is nothing less that the Power to Transform the entire world with a single idea. If you know how something works then you have the power to change it.
